About The Sun Pharma Foundation
*The Sun Pharma Science Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act. Led by Prof. Virender S. Chauhan, D Phil (Oxon), and J. C. Bose Fellow (DST), the Foundation aims to promote scientific advancements in India. They achieve this by encouraging and rewarding excellence in the fields of medical and pharmaceutical sciences, ultimately stimulating research activity within the country.
About the Sun Pharma Science Scholar Fellowship
The Science Scholar Fellowships for Young Scientists aim to discover brilliant and upcoming young researchers in Bio-medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. These fellowships are meant to stimulate young minds to pursue research as a career by soliciting commitment to the cause of the future advancement of science. Each Science Scholar Fellowship carries a certificate and a cash prize of fifty thousand rupees. In addition to this, rupees fifty thousand will be provided to the science scholar fellows for attending an international conference to present abstracts/Posters. To avail of this additional amount, the fellows should submit the invitation letter from the conference organizing committee and also expense details with documentary proof to the office of the foundation.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must:-
- be an Indian national under 30 years of age conducting research in India
- and have completed at least the first year of an M.D. or Ph.D. degree program in Biomedical or Pharmaceutical Sciences (not already completed)
- be actively involved in a research project
- be willing to present their research work to a panel of experts (if selected)
Note:- Applicants who have already completed their M.D. or Ph.D. degree are not eligible for this fellowship.
Documents
The applicants should submit their nominations online with the following information:-
- Photograph of the Applicant
- Category of the Award
- Name of the Applicant
- Date of Birth
- Citizenship
- Ongoing course of the applicant
- Office and residence address of the applicant with mobile number and email address
- Name and address of the Nominator with mobile number and email ID.
- Letter from the Supervisor/Nominator certifying that the research work submitted for Sun Pharma Science Foundation Science Scholar Award has been done by the applicant.
- Justification letter duly signed by the nominator for sponsoring the nomination.
After uploading the Justification letter from the sponsor of the nomination, the applicants will be provided with a login ID and password to upload the following documents:-
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Details of the research work/project conducted by the applicants are to be described under the following headings:
- Title
- Introduction
- Objectives
- Material and Methods
- Results
- Statistical Analysis
- Discussion
- Impact of the research in the advancement of knowledge or benefit to mankind
- Literature references
- A voluntary declaration from the applicants' that they would work in the public or privately funded academic/research-based organisations for a minimum period of two years after completion of their studies
- A statement duly signed by the nominee and the supervisor/co-authors that academically or financially the thesis submitted for Sun Pharma Science Foundation Science Scholar Awards has 'No Conflict of Interest' with the supervisor or co-authors
- A letter stating that the project submitted for Sun Pharma Science Foundation Science Scholar Fellowships has received “Ethical Clearance” from the concerned authorities.
The applicant must also upload the following testimonials:-
- Class 12 and bachelor/master's degree, number of attempts, and year of passing.
- A reprint of publications (if any), with the name of the article, year, volume, and page number.
- Name of merit/scholarship/fellowship (if any) already received by the applicant, the year, and the achievements under them.
- Age proof of the applicant.

Note:- Nominations must be submitted with the sponsorship of the Head of the Institution.
Selection Process:
The first five candidates will be shortlisted based on predetermined criteria with equal weightage and a thorough evaluation of the research work's quality. Three independent assessors, experts in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences respectively, will evaluate the nominations. The final score will be determined by averaging the scores from each assessor.
Presentations:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited by the foundation to present their research to a panel of experts. Applicants should be prepared to answer questions from the assessors and potentially other attendees following their presentations, such as students, researchers, and academics.
Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- ?50,000 lump sum grant.
- Certificate of recognition.
- Economy class airfare, boarding, and lodging will be covered if invited to the award ceremony by the Foundation.
- Participation in the Foundation's annual symposium, research awards ceremony, and conferences to interact with prominent scientists and researchers.
Terms and conditions
- The Fellowship is open to all disciplines within bio-medical and pharmaceutical sciences.
- Sun Pharma Science Scholars will have no claim of any kind on the Foundation or Sun Pharma Group of companies.
- Science Scholars are required to keep the Foundation informed about their achievements regularly.
- In the event of a tie during the selection process, the fellowship may be jointly awarded to both candidates.
