Department of Microbiology, AIIMS Bhopal is organizing One-Day Hands-on training on “NTEP Accreditated Line Probe Assay (LPA) technique for detection of Drug Resistance Tuberculosis”. It is the initiative of “Social Scientific Responsibility” and funded by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
About the Event
Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis is one of the biggest threats to humanity. The emergence of multidrug and extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB and XDR-TB respectively) has complicated the management of TB, both annually and globally.
Line Probe Assay (LPA) is a rapid molecular diagnostic tool that can detect M. tuberculosis and its drug resistance. The World Health Organization (WHO) approved LPA in 2008 and this LPA test is also accreditated from National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). Effective control of this problem is dependent on its early diagnosis and prompt treatment.
This training is aimed to provide comprehensive knowledge, skill and hands-on exposure to this sensitive and specific assay viz. LPA. It will be an opportunity for the M.Sc./M.Tech/ Ph.D/M.D./Research students from various institutes to equal themselves with this cutting-edge technology.
To ensure maximum benefit to the participants, it is intended to restrict the number of participants to 10, on a first – come- first serve basis.
