The World Congress for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (WCBIP) is a biennial event hosted by the World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (WABIP), with host sites rotating around the world. The next WCBIP will be held in Marseille, France on October 6-9, 2022, and is co-organized by the International Bronchoesophagological Society (IBES).

Authors may submit abstracts for oral presentations or poster sessions for the 22nd WCBIP/WCBE World Congress.

Abstracts must be submitted online no later than June 1, 2022.

The link to submit abstracts will be given on this page as soon as abstract submission opens.

Authors must be registered to attend the event.

As they submit an abstract, authors have to be aware that they must register to the congress if they have an abstract accepted, and be onsite in case of oral presentation.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the scientific and online programs of the 22nd WCBIP/WCBE World Congress.

The Heinrich Becker Young Investigator Awards for Research and Clinical Innovation

Awards will be presented to 3 registered participants whose abstracts suggest a significant contribution through research or clinically innovative techniques to the fields of bronchology and interventional pulmonology.

To be eligible for this award, the first author and/or principal investigator must be aged 40 or younger.

Length, style, and formatting

Abstracts should have a clear hypothesis and methodology, list all author names and institutions, and designate a corresponding author.

The body of text can be a maximum of 300 words and cannot include figure nor table.

Abstracts should be written in a structured format and include: Title, Authors names, Authors affiliations, Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.

Case reports are also acceptable and should be identified as such on the submission form. Case reports should be structured as follows: Title, Authors names, Authors affiliations, Background, Case report, and Conclusion.

The abstracts title should begin with a capital letter followed by lower case lettering.
Originality and linguistic accuracy

Abstracts must contain original data, be free of plagiarism, and be written and submitted in English.

The linguistic accuracy of the abstract is the responsibility of the authors.
Disclosure of funding source(s)

Abstracts must provide the funding source (industry name, grant name, or other applicable funding) if one exists.

Commercial names, trade names and company brands should not be mentioned in the abstract title; however, they may be mentioned in the body of text.

Abstracts containing elements that might lead to patient identification shall be disqualified.
Oral Presentation from accepted abstracts

Oral presentations are 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes for questions.

Powerpoint presentations may be used. The presenter must provide the presentation moderator your Powerpoint files on a CD, DVD, or USB memory stick in advance.
Poster Presentation

Text, figures, and images may be included.

Posters may be laminated.

Authors are required to write an original abstract that fulfills accepted criteria for copyright purposes.

By submitting an abstract, all authors attest that the abstract submitted has not been previously published elsewhere and transfers, assigns, or otherwise conveys all copyright ownership, including any and all rights incidental thereto, exclusively to WABIP.

If an author chooses to submit information from an abstract that has previously been presented and/or published, all data must be updated, current, and rewritten in a manner that does not infringe on international copyright laws. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to include any copyrighted material in their abstract presentations. All authors will be required to agree to a copyright assignment statement when submitting an abstract.
