Intensivist / Critical Care Consultant

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care, including routine and emergency coverage, in the critical care unit
• Perform critical care procedures such as central line insertion, IV channelization, and intubation, and operate critical care equipment such as ventilators
• Ensure adherence to clinical safety, hygiene, and infection control protocols
• Monitor and manage critically ill patients, including responding promptly to changes in their condition and reporting complex health issues to the concerned consultant
• Participate in daily rounds independently or alongside consultants, following up on patient care plans and implementing necessary changes
• Prepare accurate and detailed treatment sheets, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
• Assist in the assessment of new admissions to the ICU and manage pain relief protocols where required
• Follow the department’s on-call and duty schedule as assigned

Qualification & Experience

• Either (a) MD in Medicine or Anaesthesia with 1-2 years of experience in critical care, or (b) MD with fellowship in critical care
• 0-5 years experience in critical care of a reputed hospital
