Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Evaluating patients through interviews, medical histories, psychological assessments, and diagnostic tests
• Diagnosing mental health conditions such as:
• Depression
• Anxiety Disorders
• Bipolar Disorder
• Schizophrenia
• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
• Developing individualized treatment plans
• Prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medications such as:
• Fluoxetine
• Sertraline
• Lithium
• Providing psychotherapy or counseling
• Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment as needed
• Managing psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal behavior or severe psychosis
• Collaborating with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians
• Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring confidentiality
• Specialized Duties
• Depending on their specialization, psychiatrists may also:
• Treat children and adolescents
• Work in addiction recovery and substance abuse treatment
• Conduct forensic psychiatric evaluations for courts
• Provide geriatric mental health care
• Work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, prisons, military settings, or private clinics
• Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
• Staying updated on advances in mental health treatments and research
• Following medical ethics and legal standards
• Supervising junior doctors or medical students
• Participating in case conferences and multidisciplinary meetings
