Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the “Clinical Research Training Program Fellowship in Neuromodulation in Psychiatry” in the DBT Wellcome Trust India Alliance supported “Clinical Research Centre for Neuromodulation in Psychiatry”.   About the Fellowship This Fellowship program is initiated under this Clinical Research Centre with a specific focus on training needs in area of neuromodulation. The training program will involve neuromodulatory techniques [Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) and others] offering alternative treatment avenues for pharmaco-resistant psychiatric disorders. Cutting edge basic research, as well as clinical/translational research will be ensembled to examine the role of these & other related neuromodulation techniques in psychiatry. This program would be jointly carried out at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru; Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi; Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal. Each fellow will be primarily placed in one of three institutes. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program 2022.   About CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports qualified young scientists at leading universities and research centers around the world who wish to receive training in fundamental immunology or cancer immunology. A panel of scientists drawn from our Scientific Advisory Council rigorously evaluates each candidate, the intended sponsor and training environment, and the nature and feasibility of the proposed project. CRI seeks hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies in both immunology and tumor immunology. The applicant and sponsor should make every effort to demonstrate the potential of the proposed studies to directly impact our understanding of the immune system’s role in cancer.   Eligibility Applicants for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program must be working in areas directly related to immunology or cancer immunology. An eligible project must fall into the broad field of immunology with relevance to solving the cancer problem. Applicants must have a doctoral degree by the date of award activation and must conduct their proposed research under a sponsor who holds a formal appointment as an assistant professor or higher rank at the host institution. Applicants with 5 or more years of relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of award activation are not eligible, with the exception of M.D. applicants, who should not include years of residency in this calculation. Only in exceptional circumstances will applicants who have already spent 3 or more years in a sponsor’s laboratory by the start date of fellowship be considered for a fellowship award. The fellowship can be performed in the United States or abroad, but must take place at a non-profit institution. There are no citizenship restrictions. Only one fellow per sponsor may apply per application round, and faculty sponsors may not have more than three CRI-supported fellows at any time.   Fellowship Amount Newly awarded fellowships provide a stipend of $55,000 for the first year, $57,000 for the second year, and $59,000 for the third year. Beginning January 2022, an allowance of $5,000 per year is allotted to the host institution for use at the sponsor’s discretion to help pay for the fellow’s research supplies, travel to scientific meetings, health insurance, and/or childcare. Deductions for administrative overhead are not allowed from either the stipend or the institutional allowance. Payments are made monthly in U.S. currency to the host institution.   Award Terms and Conditions All awardees must adhere to the terms of this award. Please note: The Cancer Research Institute will not modify the terms of its policies at the request of individual institutions. The last date of application is 21 February.   About the Fellowship The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IlT) Roorkee invites applications from outstanding and enthusiastic researchers for post-doctoral position under the mentorship of Dr. Prabhat K Mandal, under the project ‘Development of a membrane-based kit to detect Ll retrotransposon activity in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)’. The Prospective candidate is expected to have a strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, immunology with hands-on experiences in animal cell culture and recombinant protein purification. The candidate should be passionate about working on cutting edge research leading to high impact results with a potential for long term applications. Apart from research, the candidate may be entrusted with other academic responsibilities deemed fit by the department.   Qualification and Experience  The prospective candidate should have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, and related biology discipline from a premier institute/university with an excellent academic record. The candidate should have a minimum of one first-author publication in a reputed journal from PhD work and be highly skilled in molecular biology and animal cell culture work. Preference will be given to the candidates having hands-on experience in polyclonal antibody generation in mice. A candidate who has recently submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible to apply subject to the condition that they will furnish the proof of award of PhD degree at the time of interview.   Duration & Fellowship Amount The duration of the fellowship will be of two years, extendable to one more year, if necessary. The last date of application is 14 February.   About the Program Hridyantra is an initiative led by IIT Kanpur (under the aegis of the upcoming School of Medical Research and Technology) in partnership with the country’s leading hospitals and the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur to develop the world’s most advanced Left Ventricular Assist device (LVAD). The program is conceived as a grand challenge inviting applications from creative and entrepreneurial minds who will work very closely with a special program task force that includes engineering faculty members from IIT Kanpur, Medtech Industry experts from the USA, and clinical experts from Narayana Health, All India Institute of Medical Sciences-Delhi (AIIMS Delhi), Apollo, Fortis Healthcare, Medanta, KIMS, and UN Mehta Heart Institute. The intellectual property contribution of each team member will be respected and protected. The program is aimed at the creation of a viable enterprise with one or more deployment-ready cardiac care product/s developed by the team.  The selected fellows will work with the task force members, in a mission mode, to design and develop a fully functional LVAD. IIT Kanpur and the clinical partners will provide all the necessary facilities and mentorship to achieve the goal.  Fellows will receive curated suggestions and mentorship throughout the program from the task force members and external industry professionals with core domain expertise across the healthcare ecosystem.  The journey of the fellows will commence with clinical immersion at Narayana Health Hospitals India where they will be exposed to the clinical nuances associated with cardiac surgery. The University has 20 Schools and 77 Departments with the state-of-the-art in teaching and laboratory facilities, has produced over 10 million graduates, since its inception. The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi supports the MKU’s Schools/Departments financially through several flagship programmes of the nation.    School of Biological Sciences (SBS) The UGC recognized the School of Biological Sciences for continuous support through with snaeshid programme such as COSIP, DRS, COSIST, DSA (Phase I, II and III) and Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Functional Genomics (Phase I, and II), Centre with Potential for Excellence in Genomic Sciences (CEGS) (Phase I, and II), and also through Networking Resource Centre in Biological Sciences (NRCBS Phase I &II). UGC, New Delhi has created Networking Resource Centres in various disciplines at leading University Departments/Research Institutions in India. The major objectives of the centres are to promote collaborative research, by providing access to advanced research facilities and  to impart training to young researchers working in the frontier areas of their respective subjects. SBS was recognized as a “Networking Resource Centre in Biological Sciences (NRCBS)’’ in the year 2008.   UGC-NRCBS UGC-NRCBS, MKU, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure, is functioning as a resource centre for training and research collaborations. The theme of the proposed “Visiting Fellowship Programme for Research Scholars” is offered by UGC NRCBS (Phase II), School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai - 625 021.   Objectives The objective is to provide state-of-the art facilities to research scholars working in various institutes. Research scholars will be selected based on their area of interest and the possible collaboration with one of the host scientists in the UGC Networking Centre.   Nature of the Course The participants can conduct part of their Ph.D. research program in the Networking centre. The programme will be research oriented rather than techniques oriented and emphasis will be given to complete a part of their research program.
