About RGCB Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a research institute in India, exclusive devoted to research in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. It is located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of the state of Kerala in India.    Project Name CSIR-sponsored research project entitled, “Identification of Xenoestrogen induced Spontaneous Mutations and changes in Promoter Methylation Status in the Cancer Causing Genes BRCA1, BRCA2 and p53 in Breast, Ovarian, Prostate and Pancreatic Cancers” in the laboratory of Dr. Priya Srinivas at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.   Essential Qualifications Senior Research Fellow MSc/BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in Life Science subjects, with 60% mark with at least two years of research experience in animal cell culture according to the last date of application. Candidates should have qualified National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET/ GATE/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF etc. Examination). Research Associate PhD (in any branch of life sciences) or MPharm/MVSc with three years R&D expertise according to the last date of application, evidenced from fellowship or associateship or by date of enrollment of PhD. Experience in animal cell culture techniques is essential. Those who had submitted their PhD thesis are also qualified to apply for Research Associateship, though they will be eligible for salary at the SRF level till the award of their degree.   Desirable Qualification Experience in animal cell culture techniques, Proteomics and genomics will be desirable.   Age Limit The Upper age limit for applying for the position of SRF shall be 32 years and for the position of RA shall be 35 years as on August 05, 2022. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.   Emoluments Senior Research Fellow: ? 35,000/- per month Research Associate: ? 47,000/- per month House Rent Allowance @ 16% of the fellowship amount will be paid to those who do not avail RGCB hostel facilities.   Duration One year or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier).   How to Apply? About G. P. BIRLA SCHOLARSHIP The Trust has been established to carry forward the cherished dream of Late Shri G. P. Birla, the renowned Industrialist and Philanthropist, to promote education, develop human resources and empower the youth of the Country. With this objective, the Trust proposes to grant Scholarships to meritorious students, male or female, from West Bengal, who have in the year 2022, passed the class XII examination and have secured 85% marks or more from WBCHSE or 90% or more from ISC/CBSE and whose family income is less than Rs. 3,00,000/- per year and as such are in need of financial help to pursue further studies. The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are designed for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. These fellowships are for six to nine months.   Applications are invited in the following fields only: Agricultural Sciences; Anthropology; Bioengineering; Computer Science (including, but not limited to, cyber security, digital economy, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data analytics); Economics; Education Policy and Planning; Energy Studies; History; International Law; International Security and Strategic Studies; Materials Science (with emphasis on environmental applications); Mathematical Sciences; Neurosciences; Performing Arts; Physical Sciences; Public Health; Public Policy; Sociology; Urban and Regional Planning (with emphasis on smart cities and waste management); Visual Arts; and Women’s and Gender Studies.   Affiliation The applicant will be affiliated with one U.S. host institution for his/her grant. USIEF strongly recommends all applicants to identify institutions with which they wish to be affiliated and to correspond, in advance, with potential host institutions. About Ayush Scholarship Scheme 2022-2023 For AY- 2022-2023, the admission under Ayush scholarship Scheme has started Ministry of AYUSH & Indian Council for Cultural Relations Scholarship Schemes for courses under the Ayush Scholarship Scheme is  ( UG / PG / Ph.D. in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) for the academic session 2022-2023.   Guidelines for AYUSH Scholarship Scheme Applicant should be necessary of 18 years age at the time of admission to Indian Universities/ Institutes. There is no upper age limit. Applicant has to apply on the A2A portal for AYUSH Scholarship Scheme No application will be accepted after the last date of application. The application will be processed only for the course applied for. No request for the change, of course, will be entertained later. The candidate has to fill 03 choices of Universities/Institutes in the application in order of preference. The allocation of the University will be on a first come first serve basis subject to the availability of seats. Under no circumstances, the air ticket shall be booked by the student as there is no provision for reimbursement of the air ticket to the student. Expenditure on laboratory, chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars. Any request related to family members such as endorsement of visa, accommodation, or any other assistance will not be entertained. Reimbursement of House Rent Allowance (HRA), other allowances, etc. Will be settled in the ongoing financial year (on producing authentic bills/receipts/ supporting documents). The DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (India Alliance, www.indiaalliance.org) invites applications for its Senior and Intermediate Fellowships under the track of Basic Biomedical Research. These Fellowships are available across the full spectrum of biomedical research under the remit of India Alliance, which is to support biomedical research that is relevant to human and animal health. Interdisciplinary projects are also welcome.   Eligibility This competition is open for basic science/veterinary researchers with 4–15 years of post-PhD research experience; applicant can have a PhD in any discipline of science as long as the proposed research is within the funding remit of India Alliance. Applicants are advised to choose the most appropriate scheme based on their qualification, research experience, track record, and aspirations. They may refer to the guidance notes, provisions, and mandates of the schemes. The Office reserves the right to advise on the suitability of the scheme. There are no age or nationality restrictions. The last date of application is 15 July.   About M K Bhan Fellowship The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, had launched a new grant opportunity in 2020-21, the M K Bhan – Young Researcher Fellowship Programme (MKB-YRFP), with an aim to encourage young bright researchers to continue their research in the country after Ph.D. The scheme is to offer an independent research grant to young Post-Doctoral Fellows, so as to enable them to emerge as future leaders and take up cutting edge research focused on issues of national relevance. This fellowship willbe awarded for Research work to be carried out at DBT-Autonomous Institutes only.   Eligibility The applicant should be Indian National and possess a Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/allied areas. Applicant should not be holding a permanent position in any institute/university. The applicant should have an excellent track record as evident by peer reviewed publications, technologies developed, patent (if any). Those who have submitted their Ph.D. are also eligible to apply; however, fellowship can be implemented only after award of the degree. Applicant should not take-up fellowship at the Institute where he/she has done his/her Ph.D. Each applicant must identify a host institute and a mentor. The upper age limit will be 35 years as on the closing date of the submission of the application. Applicants cannot have more than one fellowship at a given point of time.   Nature of Support The scheme provides a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 75,000/- p.m. MKB-YRFP fellows in addition will receive a research/contingency grant of Rs. 20.00 lakh per year for hiring manpower, purchase of consumables, minor equipment, domestic travel and other contingent expenditure to be incurred for the implementation of research proposal selected for the fellowship. MK Bhan fellow can engage one manpower (JRF/SRF/Project Assistant/Project Associate) under him/her. Capital equipment will be procured in the name of the institute where the fellow proposes towork and value of the whole set of the equipment should not exceed Rs.10.00 lakh during the whole tenure of the project. MKB-YRFP fellows will be eligible for regular research grant through extra mural and other schemes of various S&T agencies of the Govt. of India, provided that Co-PI is a regular faculty. However, they can take research grant from anywhere but salary from only one source.   Duration Upto 50 fellowships will be provided each year. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) 2022.   About SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) The SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) is aimed to identify motivated young researchers and provide them support for doing research in frontier areas of science and engineering. The fellows will work under a mentor, and it is hoped that this training will provide them a platform to develop as independent researchers.   Eligibility The applicant should be an Indian citizen. The applicant must have obtained Ph.D/M.D/M.S degree from a recognized University. Those who have submitted their PhD/M.D/M.S thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates, if selected, will be offered lower fellowship amount till they qualify the eligible degree. The upper age limit for the fellowship is 35 years at the time of the submission of application, age will be calculated by taking the date of closure of the respective call. Age relaxation of 5 (five) years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates. NPDF can be availed only once by a candidate in his/her career. Mentor must hold a regular academic/research position in a recognized institution in India. Should hold Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering. A mentor shall not have more than two SERB NPDF fellows at any given time. Applicants of NPDF, SRG and EMR can submit their proposal only once in a calender year in any of these schemes.   Nature & Duration of Support The fellowship is tenable only in India and can be implemented in any of the recognized academic institutions, national laboratories and other recognized R & D institutions. The host institution should provide necessary administrative and infrastructural support The fellows will not be allowed to work with the Ph.D. guide/co-guide. It is also normally not availed at the same Department / institution where the candidates have earned their PhD/M.S/M.D degree. The fellowship is purely a temporary assignment, and is tenable for a period of 2 years. The fellows will be entitled to receive the grants as given below:   Budget Head Amount Fellowship Rs. 55,000/- per month (consolidated) and Rs. 35,000/ p.m for candidates who have submitted the thesis but degree not awarded Research Grant  Rs. 2,00,000/- per annum Overheads Rs. 1,00,000/- per annum   Research grant can be used for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies and domestic travel. There is no provision for providing research personnel support under this scheme. The Fellow is expected to undertake the research objectives by himself/herself during the entire duration of the fellowship. The fellows are not eligible to receive any other fellowship from any Government or Non-Governmental source during the tenure of the fellowship. The fellows must seek the consent of SERB if he/she intends to be away from the implementing institute (except for field work related to the project) continuously for a period more than eight weeks.   How to Apply? Be a citizen of Canada, India, Japan, USA, Pakistan or China (Hong Kong citizens are also eligible as it is a Special Administrative Region of China). Be able to demonstrate that they can meet the costs of living in Scotland (where this is applicable) and the remaining tuition fees. Not have previously studied in Scotland. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the MSIF-ECTRIMS McDonald Fellowship 2022.   About McDonald Fellowship 2022 The McDonald Fellowship enables early career multiple sclerosis researchers from low- and middle-income countries to work in a research institution outside of their own country. They are open to applications for virtual or local projects to overcome the travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the visit or virtual project, participants either gain expertise or carry out parts of joint research projects. Provided that it is safe to travel amid the pandemic, they expect that part of the second-year grant to the host institution will be used to cover the candidate’s expenses to attend the annual congress of ECTRIMS, the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS. One Fellowship is awarded in partnership with ECTRIMS and is known as the MSIF-ECTRIMS McDonald Fellowship. Another Fellowship is awarded in partnership with MSIF’s member, ARSEP, The Fondation pour l’Aide à la Recherche sur la Sclérose En Plaques. This is known as the MSIF-ARSEP McDonald Fellowship.   Who is eligible? All candidates must: Be educated to post graduate level (at least MSc, preferably PhD/MD) in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis Be citizens of a low- or middle-income country (all countries with a low, lower middle or upper middle income as defined by the World Bank)* Focus their research in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis Candidates must also be in one of the following situations: Working or studying in a low- or middle-income country (all countries with a low, lower middle or upper middle income as defined by the World Bank) at the time of nomination Working or studying in another country on a project which started within the six months prior to nomination Studying in another country on a project supported by an MS International Federation grant Candidates are expected to return to their own countries at the end of the study period where they will contribute to advancing care and research in MS. The fellowship may also be used as a supplement for work related to MS by a candidate who has been accepted for training in a recognised institute (within the six months prior to nomination) but who doesn’t have enough money to cover the total cost. Candidates and Host supervisors are required to read and sign the Terms and Conditions of the award (see here).   Expanded eligibility criteria The 2022 McDonald Fellowship requirements for applicants have been amended. Due to travel restrictions they are considering alternative ways to carry out research projects, allowing flexibility around how the Fellowship is spent, as well as when and where the project would be carried out. They encourage potential applicants to think creatively together with their proposed hosts about potential solutions. A project may be: in a research institute/hospital abroad if travel permits (as in previous years) in a research institute/hospital in your home country a virtual project, either in full or in part with host institution mentoring* *virtual projects are only possible if the applicant and host are able to demonstrate how to get sufficient mentorship throughout the project duration. Projects are only accepted if risk of travel is low; the project can be carried out safely with minimal risk to the applicant; there are sufficient resources and supervision to allow the proposed project to take place; and the project demonstrates sufficient value to the applicant. Application forms will be revised to include a question asking the applicant to write a plan for how to conduct the work or a part of the work if unable to travel. The specific Terms and Conditions of the Awards are being drafted and will be communicated as soon as they have been finalised.
