ICMR/NIAID/BMGF Clinical Research Fellowship Exchange Program 2022

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the ICMR/NIAID/BMGF Clinical Research Fellowship Exchange Program 2022. About the Fellowship The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), have teamed up to provide a fellowship opportunity that will enable clinicians from India and the United States of America (USA) to conduct research in areas of infectious diseases and immunology at an exchange laboratory and other approved facilities. What is the objective of the program? The objective of the ICMR/NIAID/BMGF Clinical Research Fellowship Exchange Program is to build a collaborative research and training program between India and the USA in an effort to foster the development of researchers in both countries and to advance research that will improve clinical practice and benefit public health in both countries. The focus of this fellowship program is to engage scientists in infectious diseases and immunology research, and to encourage the development of female early-career clinical scientists in India and the USA. Why should I apply? As a participant on this exchange program, you will have the opportunity to conduct research at one of the top USA’s medical research agencies, NIH/NIAID, and will gain a competitive edge in your research career. During the appointment, you will have an opportunity to: Enhance your education and training in infectious diseases and immunology research. Gain access to cutting-edge research. Participant Benefits During the duration of the fellowship, you will receive: Support in the form of a stipend for living ($3,000 per month up to 3 months), and other expenses as determined by the program sponsors. Health insurance expenses, as applicable. Roundtrip airfare. Nature of Appointment As a participant, you will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOE, or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment. You will also be contacted by ICMR with additional information from them. Qualifications This Fellowship is open to applicants from India who are clinicians in their early to mid-career, with an established interest in conducting research. To qualify for this opportunity you must: Be an Indian citizen. Have completed a Postgraduate (post-MBBS) medical training program, such as an M.D. or M.S., with or without a Ph.D., within the last 15 years. Be available to relocate and conduct research at an NIH-approved facility for up to three months and agree to a one-year appointment at the home institution in India after the exchange. Upon selection, the participant shall make an agreement with the home institution to work for at least one year upon return. Have documented support from the home institution. The participant will be required to obtain a letter of support from the India home institution. Meet clearance requirements to access NIH-assigned facility. Appointments are contingent on receipt of the necessary clearance to access the assigned facility. While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with NIH, this opportunity requires a pre-employment background check. Be eligible to obtain a J-1 Short-Term Scholars visa status. INSA JRD-Tata Fellowships 2022

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the INSA JRD-Tata Fellowships 2022. About the Fellowship Indian National Science Academy (INSA), a premier scientific organization in India representing all branches of Science and Technology, instituted the INSA- JRD TATA FELLOWSHIP in honour of the late JRD Tata, visionary and a leading industrialist. The purpose of this Fellowship is to extend the advanced scientific infrastructure and expertise of India to scientists and researchers of developing countries. The Fellowship established from an Endowment received from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust will foster advanced research training of scientists from the developing world and promote south-south cooperation. Scope and Duration of Fellowship The Fellowship provides an opportunity for young scientists, teachers and researchers from the developing countries all over the world to undertake research studies in India. It covers short-term, participatory research studies in all major disciplines of science and technology including engineering and medical sciences at the Indian Centres of Excellence. The Fellowship awardees are provided considerable freedom in availing the opportunity and formulating the contents of their research work in India. The awardees may either correspond with the host institute and opt to work there if offered placement or seek the assistance of the Academy for placement. About 10 Fellowships are provided annually. The Fellowship covers return airfare from place of work in their home country to place of work in India, boarding and lodging at the affiliated institution/s, and an adequate allowance in Indian currency to cover incidental expenses. The maximum period of award will be for three months. The awardees are allowed to choose a fellowship period mutually convenient to them and the host institute. On successful completion of the program, the awardees are required to submit a brief report to the centre and participate in subsequent feedback requirements on the usefulness of the program in their home country. About the Fellowships This ICMR-DHR international fellowship programme is intended to create a pool of talented health research personnel by facilitating advanced training and exposure to the latest advancements in knowledge through interaction with the international scientists in emerging areas of clinical/medicine/health sciences. Short Term International Fellowships for Senior Indian Biomedical Scientists The purpose of Short Term Fellowships (meant for senior scientists) should be more towards the establishment of international research collaborations and gain expertise for establishment of expertise/technologies not available in the parent Indian Institute. Areas for fellowships: Emerging areas in clinical/medicine/health sciences Eligibility: The applicant should be a citizen of India and working in the country. The applicant should possess an M.D/M.S/Ph.D degree (M.D./ M.S./ M.D.S. or MBBS/BDS/ MVSc./ M.Sc./M.Pharma/M.Tech or equivalent with Ph.D. in health / biomedical research) with at least three years teaching/research experience in a recognized Institute after obtaining the requisite qualification. The application should be forwarded by the Employer/Head of the Institution with a statement that the candidate will be considered as a full time employee of the Institution during the period of his/her fellowship. The applicant should submit a letter of acceptance from the host Institute where he/she proposes to work during the fellowship. ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Short-term PhD Fellowships 2022

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Short-term PhD Fellowships 2022. About the ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Short-term PhD Fellowships ICGEB offers Short-term fellowships for Pre-doctoral studies in ICGEB Component laboratories to fund ongoing collaborative research between scientists from ICGEB Member States and research groups at ICGEB laboratories in Trieste, Italy, New Delhi, India and Cape Town, South Africa, with the aim of facilitating access to the latest research techniques and to strengthen capacity building. Eligibility Applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State and may not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in their country of origin, unless working abroad at the time of application. Degree requirements: applicants for ICGEB Trieste and Cape Town should hold a BSc (Honours) degree; applicants for ICGEB New Delhi should hold a MSc degree. HFSP Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023. About HFSP Postdoctoral Fellowships The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) supports innovative basic research that applies novel and interdisciplinary approaches to understand fundamental biological problems and promotes scientific exchanges across national and disciplinary boundaries. HFSP postdoctoral fellowships encourage early career scientists to broaden their research skills by moving into new areas of study while working in a new country. Two different fellowships are available: Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with a PhD on a biological topic who want to embark on a novel and frontier project focussing on the life sciences. Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF) are for applicants who hold a doctoral degree from a non-biological discipline (e.g. physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences) and who have not worked in the life sciences before. Eligibility Nationality A candidate who is not a national from one of the HFSP members (see list below) may apply to work only in a research institution in one of the member countries. A candidate who is a national of one of the member countries can apply to work in a research institution in any country. HFSP member countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus (EU part only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Republic of Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Applicants must propose to work in a country different to the one where they did their previous PhD work or first post-doctoral studies. For those institutions that are not classified as national, i.e. international or extraterritorial institutions such as EMBL, ICPT or ICGEB, the country in which the laboratory is located will be considered the host country. Doctoral degree A research doctorate (PhD) or a doctoral-level degree comparable to a PhD with equivalent experience in basic research (e.g. a research based MD or medical PhD) must be conferred by the start of the fellowship. It is not required at the time of submission. By “conferred degree” we mean you have received your diploma for the degree. The “conferral date” is the date on the official PhD document. Refer to the application guidelines for information in case you were not yet awarded the PhD. Research publications Applicants must have at least one lead author publication by the submission deadline of the Letter of Intent which can be a manuscript (i) published in a recognized OA preprint repository, or, (ii) accepted for publication, (iii) in press or (iv) already published by a peer reviewed journal. Submission of a fellowship proposal at the Full Application stage however is only possible with a published research article according to points (ii) to (iv) above. HFSP only accepts full-length original research publications in English that were peer reviewed and for which the applicant must either be the single author, first author or joint first author. In a joint first author paper the applicant does not need to be listed in the first position, but the equal contribution of the authors must be clearly stated in all cases. In some cases the standard publication practice makes first authorship impossible (e.g. alphabetical listing of authors); these circumstances must be explained in the the application. Fellowship Support Fellows are granted a living allowance as well as a research and travel allowance. Depending on their specific situation fellows may also qualify to receive a child allowance, a parental leave allowance and a relocation allowance. How to Apply? Applications for the 2023 HFSP Long-Term and Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (to start in 2023) will follow a two-step submission process via the online submission platform ProposalCentral. Firstly, applicants will be asked to submit a Letter of Intent from which the review committee will select the best proposals. In a second step, successful applicants will be invited to submit a Full Proposal. About Einstein Fellowship The Einstein Forum and the Wittenstein Foundation offer a fellowship for outstanding young thinkers who wish to pursue a project in a different field from that of their previous research. The purpose of the fellowship is to support those who, in addition to producing outstanding work in their area of specialization, are also interested in other, interdisciplinary approaches - following the example set by Albert Einstein. Eligibility Candidates must be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social sciences, or in the natural sciences. About The Raman–Charpak Fellowship program is in honour of two Nobel Laureates in Physics, Prof C.V. Raman, Indian Nobel Laureate (1930) and Prof Georges Charpak, French Nobel Laureate (1992). The aim is to facilitate the exchange of doctoral students between the two countries, in order to broaden the scope and depth of future engagements in Science, Technology and Innovation. The Raman-Charpak Fellowship is the only Indo-French bilateral Fellowship programme jointly funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the French Institute in India (IFI), French Embassy in India, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Government of France. This programme implemented by the Indo French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) aims at improving the doctoral skills of Indian and French students by providing them an opportunity to carry out part of their research work in a University / Research & Development Institute based in France or India respectively. This programme is now also open to French Master Students, who wish to spend some time in India in accordance to their curriculum. Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship 2022

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India under its “Waste to Wealth” Mission invites applications for the award of “Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship” to recognize students, community workers/self-help groups, and municipal/sanitary workers who are engaged in tackling the enormous challenge of waste management, scientifically and sustainably. The fellowship is an initiative to empower young innovators who are engaged in community work of waste management/awareness campaigns/waste surveys/studies, etc. as Swachhta Saarthis and implement actions to reduce waste for a greener planet. The role of young students from schools and colleges, and citizens working in the community through Self Help Groups (SHGs), or in independent capacity, is key in sensitizing the communities towards waste management and offer innovative solutions for conversion of waste to value. This fellowship is aimed to empower interested students and citizens to continuously engage in their attempts to reduce waste in cities and rural areas. 3CS Media Fellowship - Climate Journalism from Marginalised Communities

The 4th Call for Fellowship in Genetic Diagnostics

With an aim to expand the National Inherited Disorders Administration Kendras (NIDAN Kendras) to provide comprehensive clinical care including diagnosis, management, multidisciplinary care, counseling, prenatal testing at Government Hospitals/Medical Colleges, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has launched a 6-month ‘Fellowship in Genetic Diagnostics’ for Faculty/ Clinicians only from Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals. Four (4) trainees in a year (in two batches) will be taken by each center. In the current era of genomics, genetics has become an integral component of medicine. This platform would offer a great opportunity to Govt. Hospitals and Medical Colleges by training their permanent faculty, physicians, and scientists who are keen to develop Genetic Facilities to cater to the needs of patients. The program will provide training in cytogenetic and molecular genetic techniques along with an understanding of their applications in inpatient care. About the Fellowship The Constitution of India assures the right to life and the right to live with dignity as implicit in the fundamental rights. The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 (M.S. Act, 2013) prohibits any forms of manual handling of excreta and hazardous cleaning of sewers and septic tanks. Despite the M.S. Act, 2013 accidents continue to occur among the sanitation workers associated with desludging septic tanks and pit latrines, resulting in high mortality and morbidity. Different state governments have introduced various programs to address the issues. Some cities have initiated mechanization and innovations, behaviour change communication programs, effective contract design, better wages and entrepreneurship, design thinking in PPE, and gender mainstreaming. However, systematic documentation of the programs, policies, state-level strategies, and best practices is required to provide a strategic direction for future interventions. Fellowships provide opportunities to talented professionals passionate about the safety and well-being of high-risk sanitation workers a chance to promote appropriate policies and strategies, mechanization & innovations to eliminate hazardous waste handling, and enabling entrepreneurship, to ensure the wellbeing and dignity of the sanitation workers and their families. The Fellowship aims to develop practical knowledge, based on desk and action research. Fellows will get an opportunity to pilot new ideas and support States/cities in the implementation efforts. The Fellowship is a one-year, full-time, multi-disciplinary program based in Hyderabad. The job involves extensive travel in A.P and Telangana. Indicative Areas of Work in the Fellowship Critically analyse the national and state policies and guidelines for the safety, well-being, and dignity of sanitation workers. About CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports qualified young scientists at leading universities and research centers around the world who wish to receive training in fundamental immunology or cancer immunology. A panel of scientists drawn from our Scientific Advisory Council rigorously evaluates each candidate, the intended sponsor and training environment, and the nature and feasibility of the proposed project. CRI seeks hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies in both immunology and tumor immunology. The applicant and sponsor should make every effort to demonstrate the potential of the proposed studies to directly impact our understanding of the immune system’s role in cancer. Eligibility Applicants for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program must be working in areas directly related to immunology or cancer immunology. An eligible project must fall into the broad field of immunology with relevance to solving the cancer problem. Applicants must have a doctoral degree by the date of award activation and must conduct their proposed research under a sponsor who holds a formal appointment as an assistant professor or higher rank at the host institution. Applicants with 5 or more years of relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of award activation are not eligible, with the exception of M.D. applicants, who should not include years of residency in this calculation. Only in exceptional circumstances will applicants who have already spent 3 or more years in a sponsor’s laboratory by the start date of fellowship be considered for a fellowship award. The fellowship can be performed in the United States or abroad, but must take place at a non-profit institution. There are no citizenship restrictions. Applications are invited for Hridyantra Fellowship Program 2022 by IIT Kanpur. The last date of application is 14 February. About the Program Hridyantra is an initiative led by IIT Kanpur (under the aegis of the upcoming School of Medical Research and Technology) in partnership with the country’s leading hospitals and the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur to develop the world’s most advanced Left Ventricular Assist device (LVAD). The program is conceived as a grand challenge inviting applications from creative and entrepreneurial minds who will work very closely with a special program task force that includes engineering faculty members from IIT Kanpur, Medtech Industry experts from the USA, and clinical experts from Narayana Health, All India Institute of Medical Sciences-Delhi (AIIMS Delhi), Apollo, Fortis Healthcare, Medanta, KIMS, and UN Mehta Heart Institute. The intellectual property contribution of each team member will be respected and protected. The program is aimed at the creation of a viable enterprise with one or more deployment-ready cardiac care product/s developed by the team. The selected fellows will work with the task force members, in a mission mode, to design and develop a fully functional LVAD. IIT Kanpur and the clinical partners will provide all the necessary facilities and mentorship to achieve the goal. Fellows will receive curated suggestions and mentorship throughout the program from the task force members and external industry professionals with core domain expertise across the healthcare ecosystem. The journey of the fellows will commence with clinical immersion at Narayana Health Hospitals India where they will be exposed to the clinical nuances associated with cardiac surgery. Upon completing the clinical immersion, fellows will move to IIT Kanpur, India to begin the product development process. The fellows will continue to engage deeply with the clinicians and visit the hospitals for obtaining timely clinical feedback. Eligibility Hridyantra fellowship is a competitive position seeking smart, creative and experienced professionals with strong interest in technology development and / or proven record of entrepreneurial activities commitment to improving healthcare, and a dedication to making a real-world project a success. Qualification Bachelor’s degree in basic sciences, engineering or medical sciences, Graduate of any stream with relevant experience (Prior experience of product designing, product innovation) Preferred – Bachelor’s or higher in any of the relevant engineering disciplines e.g. mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, material science and engineering, electronic engineering, and design.
