ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Admission, discharge & transfer of patients. Individualized assessment is made by the ICU nurse to determine the immediate needs of the critical care patient. Ongoing assessment is then established to keep tabs on the patient's condition and make any changes in treatment based on hospital policy, procedure and protocol. Assessment helps the nurse and other hospital staff determines what plan of action to take in care of the patient. Assessment also allows the ICU nurse to educate the patient and her family on what to expect in the days, weeks and months following ICU treatment. Following doctor or head nurse instructions, the ICU nurse performs treatments and therapies for the patient. She gives the patient all necessary medication. If the patient lapses into cardiac arrest or another condition that requires resuscitation, the nurse follow hospital protocols and administers life-saving techniques. When a patient's condition changes rapidly, the nurse makes quick decisions to treat the patient effectively. As shift changes occur, it is the nurse's duty to inform the relief nurse of all patient care information. If the patient requires special procedures, the ICU nurse acts as an assistant to the doctor or head nurse. Documentation of assessments and drug therapy is recorded by the ICU nurse. She also makes documentation of physical therapy and other treatments given. The nurse must also keep all patient clinical records with doctor orders confidentially secure. The ICU nurse must be no discrimination and nonjudgmental when dealing with patients. In some cases, the ICU nurse is the team leader on the nursing staff and reports directly to the head or charge nurse. In this position, she has the duty of directing and developing the skills and abilities of the staff under her. She is also responsible for giving the team assignments as directed by the head nurse. The nurse plays an active role in team conferences, participating in in-service training and initiating CPR and codes classes when needed. ResponsibilitiesNew Admission: To attend any new patient (admission) within prescribed time frame To examine & take a proper history of the patient (If he is in a position to give it on his own) or from his relative. Check any previous records, if available. Charts down all the details in the history sheet. Inform the respective consultant about the admission follow his orders. Instruct the nursing staff about the necessary orders to be carried out. If there’s a transfer in-patient from the ICU. Read the transfer summary/ clinical notes carefully and act accordingly. Inform the respective consultants whenever seems significant. Shift Duty: To take rounds and examine individual patients at least once in every shift and as & when needed. Inform the respective consultant/ Registrars if any new findings. To put the notes in clinical sheet. To enter the relevant details of each and every patient accordingly. Attend rounds with the respective consultants and carry out the necessary changes in the order. Enter them in the treatment sheet. Fill the Medicine Card and Non Drug Order sheet To instruct the nursing staff about orders and follow them up To follow up with all the investigations to be seen and trace their results. Note down investigation results in the investigation sheet. To Document Verbal Orders correctly in clinical notes if given by consultants. To respond to emergency calls and to activate code blue if any medical emergency is encountered beyond your control. To identify the critical status of patient and shift him to critical care area in time. Always contact primary consultant if found necessary at any point of time. Discharges: Prepare discharge summaries well in advance according to the policy. Pre Surgical & Post Surgical Patients: To follow pre-operative orders in the treatment sheet. To check whether the consents (Surgical, Anesthesia, etc) for the surgery has been taken from the patient. If not inform the respective person. To get the PAC done. To carry out all the pre-operative orders. Inform the consultant over phone during night shift about patient status who are scheduled for surgery next day. To attend patients complaints. To calm the patients if they are apprehensive. Inform the consultant if needed. General: To attend camps according to the policy. To work as per Policies and procedures of organization. To get the cross referral form filled abd call cross consultants according to the policy. Use capital letters for medicines (Generic Names/ Salt) and always put sign, name, date and time with every entry you make. To take care about completeness of records  To act accordingly as per communicated by hospital management team. ResponsibilitiesICU Equipment Install, maintain, and troubleshoot ICU devices such as ventilators, syringe pumps, infusion pumps, patient monitors, defibrillators, and multi-parameter monitors. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration of all critical care equipment. Ensure continuous uptime of life-support machines and provide immediate technical support during equipment failure. OT (Operation Theatre) Equipment Handle service and maintenance of anaesthesia workstations, OT tables, cautery machines, lights, suction systems, etc. Ensure periodic safety checks, functionality testing, and sterilization compliance support. Troubleshoot OT equipment errors and coordinate repairs with OEMs/vendor partners. Critical Care Responsibilities Support emergency care areas with rapid problem resolution and real-time technical guidance. Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to biomedical safety, electrical safety, and infection-control protocols. Maintain logs, service reports, calibration certificates, and equipment history data. Train ICU/OT nursing and clinical staff on proper handling & safety usage of biomedical equipment. General Responsibilities Coordinate with hospital teams, OEM engineers, and internal technical staff. Ensure compliance with NABH standards and biomedical regulatory guidelines. Travel to various project sites across Rajasthan as required. Qualification & Experience    Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field. 6-10 years of experience in ICU/OT/Critical Care equipment servicing. Strong technical knowledge of life-saving biomedical instruments. Ability to read equipment manuals, troubleshoot complex technical faults, and perform routine calibration.
