Departments of Medical Nursing and Continuing Nursing Education & Research, College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore is organizing State Level Workshop on “Nursing Care of Patients with Poisoning" on 21 April 2022. The last date of registration is 15 April 2022.   About the Workshop Poisoning imposes considerable burden on the health care team and remains the major public health challenge. Acute poisoning accounts for as many as 300,000 deaths worldwide every year and around 138 000 people die each year because of snake bite. Thousands of patients would go uncared without knowledge of nurses on toxicology for each year which would lead to severely handicapped individuals or loss of life. Caring for patients with poisoning is challenging for nurses and they need to be equipped with adequate knowledge and specialized skills to recognize the needs of patients with poisoning and intervene appropriately. They need to be confident in applying the concepts of comprehensive care in their clinical practice. This workshop will highlight the importance of the contributions that our nurses can make for their patients. Department of Microbiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal, in association with the Indian Society of Cell Biology is organizing a hands-on workshop on the use of quantitative PCR in Biomedical Research and Diagnostics from 18-20 April 2022.   About the workshop In the past two decades, the use of quantitative PCR (qPCR) also commonly referred as Real Time PCR in gene expression analysis and molecular diagnostics has sky rocketed. While high sensitivity, specificity and versatility has made qPCR the mainstay of nucleic acid detection and quantification, designing and performing qPCR requires thorough understanding and extensive hands-on experience of the technique. The last date of registration is 30 April.   About The awards are being proposed to be given each year for exemplary contribution in the field of Yoga towards the development and promotion of Yoga. It has been proposed that the contribution be recognized both at the National as well as International levels. The award would be given annually on the occasion of “International Day of Yoga (IDY)” (21ST June). 21ST June has been declared as IDY, commonly referred to as Yoga Day, by the United Nations General Assembly.   Nomenclature of the Awards In order to ensure that proponents who are making excellent contribution to Yoga are honoured, the Prime Minister of India, on the occasion of International Day of Yoga in 2016, had announced awards for promotion and development of Yoga. Prime Minister’s award for outstanding contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga at National Level (2 Nos) Prime Minister’s award for outstanding contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga at International Level (2 Nos)   Category The awards would be given in two categories – National and International. The awards would be given to entities with impeccable track record and outstanding contribution in the promotion and development of Yoga. In a particular year, the Jury may decide to give awards to one or more individuals/organizations or to none. An entity which has received award once may not be considered again for conferring award in the same category.   National: The two National Awards will be given to entities of Indian origin, for their contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga.   International: The two International Awards will be given to entities of Indian or foreign origin, for their contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga across the Globe.   Eligibility The intent of the awards is to recognize entities who have made significant and outstanding contribution towards the promotion and development of Yoga. Department of Microbiology, AIIMS Bhopal is organizing One-Day Hands-on training on “NTEP Accreditated Line Probe Assay (LPA) technique for detection of Drug Resistance Tuberculosis”. It is the initiative of “Social Scientific Responsibility” and funded by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.   About the Event Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis is one of the biggest threats to humanity. The emergence of multidrug and extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB and XDR-TB respectively) has complicated the management of TB, both annually and globally. Line Probe Assay (LPA) is a rapid molecular diagnostic tool that can detect M. tuberculosis and its drug resistance. The World Health Organization (WHO) approved LPA in 2008 and this LPA test is also accreditated from National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). Effective control of this problem is dependent on its early diagnosis and prompt treatment. This training is aimed to provide comprehensive knowledge, skill and hands-on exposure to this sensitive and specific assay viz. LPA. It will be an opportunity for the M.Sc./M.Tech/ Ph.D/M.D./Research students from various institutes to equal themselves with this cutting-edge technology. Nurses are expected to be experts in assessing a patient’s physical and emotional status. Oncology nurses are closely involved with numerous supportive care issues encountered by patients and their families. Oncology nursing practice demands critical analysis of patient’s condition, and effective patient care management of treatment strategies. The changing paradigm of cancer management needs advanced knowledge and specialized skills. Equipping and updating nurses with current oncological practices empower them to work confidently in dealing with various challenging situations in their clinical practice. This conference is aimed at enhancing nurse’s knowledge in oncological practice for effective patient care.   Objectives Explore the current status of cancer burden. Abstracts should be in IMRD (Introduction, Methods, Result& Discussion) format with a word format in font style of Times New Roman, Font size 10, Line spacing 1.5 and max. Word limits i.e. 250. Only original research studies will be accepted for the conference. The submitted abstracts will be scrutinized by the scientific committee and the acceptance/ rejection of the abstracts will be intimated through e -mail. The time allotted for oral presentation is 10 minutes. Certificates will be awarded only to the presenting author. Researcher can add his/her guide name with research abstract. Note: Abstract should be sent along with full length research paper. Registration of the conference is mandatory for paper presentation. Committee decision will be final.
